The past continuous is used in English to talk about actions or events that were in progress at some time in the past. It is formed with “was” or “were” and a present participle.过去进行时用于谈论过去某个时间正在进行的动作 。它由“was” 或者 “were”加动词的现在分词构成 。

The past continuous shows the action went on for some time, but is now finished.

HOW TO FORM 一般结构
“Was” or “were” followed by the present participle form the past continuous.
过去进行时中，“Was” or “were”后面加动词的现在分词 。
“Was” or “were” is used depending on the subject. 用“was” 还是 “were”取决于主语 。
“-ing” is added to the main verb. 动词原型后加“-ing”。
